Required Textbook: Englander, Irv The Architecture of Computer Hardware, Systems Software, and Networking: An Information Technology Approach, Fourth Edition. John Wiley and Sons, 2009; ISBN-13: 978-0-471-71542-9. Note: Only the fourth edition will do for this class.
Students learn about various hardware and software components and how they work together in a modern computing environment. Topics include an overview of computer organization and architecture, machine language, high-level languages and operating systems. Both written homework and hands-on projects will be required.
