I am a faculty member in the Wellstar Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program in which I have been teaching since 1996. Presently, I teach Advanced Practice Theory (on-line and on-ground) and the Primary Care Clinical Project course. I have also taught Research Applications in Nursing, several Primary Care Residency courses, Family Nursing, Professional Role Development, and Clinical Management of Reproductive Health. Prior to 1996, I taught mainly Community Health Nursing in the Baccalaureate Nursing Program. And before 1987, I taught 15 years in the Associate Degree Nursing Program-teaching mainly Medical-Surgical and Mental Health Nursing. For several summers, I taught a sociology course-Systems of Health Care. I chaired a Gerontology Curriculum Committee for several years, in which we developed a minor and a certificate in gerontology. The minor was instituted then; the certificate developed into a multidisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Gerontology. I also developed and co-taught a several special topics course such as Aging Across Species, Gender, and Time; Cultural Diversity; Gerontological Nursing; and International Health.

Professional Experiences
Prior to becoming a faculty member and during some of my summers here at KSU, I have worked as a Medical-Surgical staff nurse, ICU staff nurse, private duty, office nurse, public health nurse, and consultant. Presently, I practice part-time as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the KSU Walk-in Health Clinic.

Research Interests, Presentations, & Publications
I am a generalist at heart, and my research interests reflect that. I, with other faculty members, have researched, presented, and/or published in the areas of gerontology (especially prescription drug use), women's health (especially menopause, use of hormone replacement therapy, and Latinas), sociology, pedagogy, mental health, community health, cultural diversity, hyperlipidemia, and use of herbs and nutritional supplements. We have presented over 100 papers and posters at professional meetings-many national and international. I have 22 publications, the latest being:

I am also a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, the Georgia Sociological Association, and Sigma Theta Tau, Mu Phi Chapter. I have served in various offices of Georgia Nurses Association and the Thirteenth District Nurses Association-serving the latter as President for two terms.

Personal Information
I have five lovely grandchildren, and I spend time with them as often as I can. I also enjoy traveling to other countries to see and experience other cultures. Besides touring Western Europe, I have been to the former USSR, Poland, Lithuania, Finland, Czechoslovakia, People's Republic of China, Greece, Canada, and Mexico. One of my hobbies is reading--with astrophysics and evolution being my favorite topics.
