2. The first time you login, you will need to go to New ICA Users and then to Join a Class.
3. The class key for this class is: 63575E57.
4. You will then go to a page which says “Join English 206.” Fill out the required information and at least the name information in the optional section (so you will get credit for your posts). Remember your screen name and password; you will need it to login in the future.
5. You should then get a screen which says “You may login to the ICA.” You can simply click on the web address given there.
6. A new screen should come up which says “Log in to the ICA.” Enter your name and password.
7. You should then be taken to the class page.
8. Postings can be read/written under the “Conferencing” section. Simply click on a topic (ex. “Week One Postings”). You should then be able to read any postings under that topic.
9. To post, you have two options. You can click on “Reply” to respond to a specific person’s post. You can also click on “Post New Message” to create an original subject heading. If you want to send the poster a private message, you may click on that option as well. Of course, private messages do not count as posts.
10. Type in your message and send it to the group!
11. Note: after the first login, you can just login under “Existing ICA Users,” and you will be taken straight to the class page.
Some Notes about Postings:
-- Posts should be insightful and intelligent comments upon the literature and the class. You can certainly be the judge of what that constitutes. The only real requirement is that you do not insult your classmates in any way.
-- All posts are worth 10 points. The maximum point value for this assignment is 80 points--that is, 8 posts. This works out to be about one per week, but you will have to post twice one week. Which week you decide to do that is up to you.
-- You must post each week. You may not save posts until the last week of class; conversely, you may not do them all this week. While you are welcome (and even encouraged) to post as many times as you like, you are only required to do the ten posts. Posts for the week will be due on Sunday by 8PM. For example, this week’s posts are due before Sunday, June 21 at 8PM.
-- Have fun and be creative! This is a very informal forum in
which you can pretty much say anything you want--including some things
that may not be brought up in class. Use it and you will learn that
your study of literature can be broadened beyond our three-day-a-week meetings.
