Welcome to a special page, for
my sister and my parents

IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO BECOME YOUNG: This 1982 picture shows Guddi and
I with our paternal grandparents. Grandpa, the late Dr S.J. Moro, was
one of the earliest, and jolliest, dental surgeons of Mysore, India. Grandma
Tarabai is a resourceful and intelligent housewife (for details see above!).

MEMORIES OF ANOTHER DAY: These are snaps of my mother and I with my
sister, when we visited Guddi at the Sharada Math hq. in Dakshineshwar,
Calcutta, during August 2000. We are sitting in a quaint little motor-boat
which took us across the mighty Hooghly for a princely sum of 90 paise (less
than 2 cents) each. Interestingly, the Hooghly in Calcutta is so close to its
estuary that it flows both ways, depending on the tide.

YEH DIL MAANGE MORE!: (Left) My mother, sister and I in Calcutta.
(Right) In this picture with Guddi's profile, the dome in the background is of
Belur Math, the hq. of the Ramakrishna Order in Belur, Calcutta - one of the
great pilgrimage centers of eastern India.

IF THE PHONE DOESN'T RING, IT'S US: My parents, Hemlata and Madhav Rao,
with Dr Vijay Prabhu (center) at Tirupathi, India. Tirupathi, nestled by
seven sacred hills in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, is a famous temple
resort. It is the abode of the benevolent Lord Venkateshwara,
possibly India's "richest" god, going by devotees' offerings. In
the backdrop is one of the temple's tame elephants, his forehead resplendant
with the mark of the Lord's 'naama'.

THERE'S NOBODY QUITE LIKE AYEE (AND BABA, AND GUDDI): These are
pictures of my family, taken in our (now sold) coconut farm near the Nilgiris
Biosphere Reserve, southern India. (Left) Me with mother dearest, Hemlata. The center pictures are of my brilliant sister
Shylaja (Guddi at home). A while after these pictures were taken, Guddi left
home to be a nun. At right, a snap of my parents with Jack, our family's dog member.

C'MON, SAY CHEESE! This picture with my parents and Dr Vijay Prabhu was
taken at the beautiful Brindavan Gardens near Mysore, India. The Gardens
flank Krishnaraja Sagara, one of India's largest non-masonry dams fashioned 100
years ago by Mysore's most famous engineer, Sir M. Visveshwaraya, whose marble
bust is visible in the background.

GOLDEN BOY: Vasuki, my four-year-old first cousin. He's my cutest
little cousin!
