Some day my prints will come!

IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO GROW AN OLD FRIEND: Roomie Gautam Mehta (left), I
and friend Animesh Thaker at Silver Lake, Akron, Ohio, during a weekend holiday
in July 2001.

SUCH A LONG JOURNEY: This picture is of my
room-mates and I while on vacation at Akron, northern Ohio, in July 2001. At far
left is buddy Gautam Mehta, from Ahmedabad,
Master's in industrial design/engineering. Full of energy and wit, he loves to
run up astronomical phone bills calling his friends back home in India. Shunahshep
Shukla, second from left, is from Jabalpur and
into Ph.D in chemical engineering. Keeps unearthly hours and devours adventure
novels when he's not cracking chemical formulas. Pavak Mehta, far right, is from Surat and half-way into his Master's in mechanical engineering.
Pavak is a great cook (eligible women are you listening!), and wants to get into
acoustics R&D.

AH, REFRESHING: Mehul (left), I am Gautam pose at the Wexley
Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio, after gracing a lilting flute recital by
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, in August 2001.

I AM IN TOTAL CONTROL, BUT DON'T TELL MY WIFE: B.N. Pramodh ties
the knot with his sweetheart of six years, Sushma Krishnamurthy, in India. While
Pramodh is a journalist and my best pal, Sushma is a doctor from Government
Medical College, Mysore -- an especially courageous doctor.
Don't
they make a fine couple! (Pramodh's head-dress is the 'Mysore peta', made
popular by the legendary civil engineer, Sir M. Visweswaraya).

THE ANSWER MY FRIEND IS BLOWIN' IN THE WIND: With my uncle's family at
Pawley's Island, South Carolina, during Christmas 2000. While the beach was warm
and sunny, the Atlantic ocean was freezing! (From left) Aunt Srilatha, uncle Prabhakar Moro, cousin Keerthana (5), me and other cousin Anjani
(8).

THE HARDEST THING TO HIDE IS SOMETHING THAT IS NOT THERE: Posing during a
visit to Cincinnati, Ohio, on New Year's Day, 2001, in my favorite sweater,
which my mother knitted for my 26th birthday.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE WORLD COMING TO AN END TODAY. IT'S ALREADY TOMORROW IN
AUSTRALIA: Buddy Andy -- short for the grand Andrew Stehrenberger -- and I
pose at Sanpada railway station, Navi Mumbai, India. Andy is a media
honcho in London, but he still wants to be an international businessman.
Initially attracted by India's spirituality, he now flits between the U.K. and
India in search of new adventures, new partnerships.

IN SEARCH OF RANGANATHITTU'S MOCKINGBIRD: With Swami Muktidanandaji (center),
correspondent of my school, Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysore, and my
pathologist-friend Dr Vijay Prabhu (right), who also happens to be Swamiji's
brother. We were visiting Ranganathittu, a bird sanctuary comprising some tiny islands in the
river Cauvery, about 16 km from Mysore, southern India. Ranganathittu
attracts nearly 70 bird species during March-October, and the river around the
islands teems with crocodiles.

THE MORE PEOPLE I MEET, THE MORE I LIKE MY CAT: Inauguration of a free
veterinary clinic at my home in Mysore, India. The clinic, run by the Animal
Welfare Association (AWA), Mysore, treats Mysore's pets and homeless
animals. The left picture shows AWA president K. Manjunath (black shirt) and honorary secretary Dr N. Subramanya
with my father, J. Madhav Rao Moro
(center). In the middle photo, Mysore's Deputy Commissioner, Mr B.
Basavaraj, launches AWA's website. The right picture shows M. Sannaiah, a
senior Mysore politician, lighting the lamp to open the clinic.

EKAM SAT, VIPRAHA BAHUDA VADANTI: "The Truth is unique,
though it may take various forms". A corner-stone of Indian
philosophy. Here, Varun V. Prabhu, of St. Stanislaus high school, Bandra, Mumbai,
smiles after performing the evening arati at home. His father, my friend
Dr Vijay Prabhu, is particular that Varun does his prayers before dinner is
served.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL GOOD MEN TO PARTY: The surprise birthday party
Stan and Tanya (standing right) organized for me. In conspiratorial attendance
were (from left) my roomie Gautam Mehta, Drew Alatis (an Ohio state attorney),
little Jordan (apple of Stan and Tanya's eye), Jemy Alatis and Teresa (doing a
Ph.D in biotechnology at OSU).

UP THE WOODEN HILL TO BEDFORDSHIRE: Ravi Thakur and I, at the Sarni coal
mines in Baitul district, Madhya Pradesh, India. Ravi was my room-mate in
Mumbai, India, for nearly two years.

NOTHING SUCCEEDS LIKE A PARROT WITH NO TEETH: With Ragini (right) and
Varsha, at the Sarni mines in Madhya Pradesh.

RED SKY AT NIGHT SHEPHERD'S DELIGHT: Posing with Tanya Mathew as her
husband Stan (not in picture) shoots us in front of Columbus's glittering
downtown.

SHIP SHAPE AND BRISTOL FASHION: With Stan Mathew in the room where I
boarded during my first ten days in America. Little Jordan is sitting
between us. Stan and Tanya were most wonderful hosts, and made me feel
completely at home!

BEELZEBUB HAS A DEVIL FOR A SIDEBOARD: Ragini and I at a new
south-Indian style Gayatri temple in Baitul district, Madhya Pradesh.

A MARVELOUS BIRD THE PELICAN, ITS BEAK HOLDS MORE THAN ITS BELLY CAN: Dining
with my uncle's family at an Indian restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina.
Charleston was a large slave market 150 years ago; it drips with history!

HORSESHOE HEROICS: At left is me trying to cuddle with a horseshoe
crab (eeks!) at the fascinating Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina. At right, with my uncle's family. The man in the funny Santa hat is my
uncle, lively Prabhakar Moro, of Georgetown, SC. The girl with the
mischievous smile is my little cousin Anjani (8) and the other little girl with
the visionary eyes is Anjani's super-naughty sister Keerthana (5). At left
is aunt Srilatha.

TIME FLIES LIKE AN ARROW, FRUIT FLIES LIKE AN ORANGE: Like a mirror to
our souls. Nikhil (left), Pavak (center) and Gautam.
