Highlights of Professional Services at KSU

 

Served as ECE M. Ed. program coordinator:

Ř      Exhibited and marketed the program at multiple graduate program open houses to recruit more qualified candidates;

Ř      Increased the enrollment from 2002 by about 542 % (from 26 in 2002 to 141 in 2005)

Ř      Supported and led the program revision for the excellence;

Ř      Developed and standardized the admission review process for the fairness, efficiency and better management;

Ř      Supported faculty and candidates in the program to make the best for NCATE review;

Ř      Initialized and implemented online portfolio in the program for the high quality (330 graduates’ portfolio online by the fall of 2005);

Ř      Designed and developed the ECE M. Ed. program NCATE review artifacts site (http://www.kennesaw.edu/education/eece/ncate/ncatehome.htm)

 

Served as director of Chinese Proficiency Testing Center (HSK):

Ř      Initialized and established Chinese Proficiency Testing Center at Kennesaw State University;

Ř      Organized three annual tests to serve 187 participants from 7 states in southern America;

Ř      Awarded 34 HSK participants with the HSK scholarships to study in prestigious Chinese Universities for one month, half year, one year or five years, the total scholarship amount about 500,000 Chinese Yuan (about $52,000);

Ř      Brought in the support from Chinese government and professors from China to teach Chinese at Kennesaw State University (Two professors who teach in the Foreign Language Department at KSU are all supported by the Chinese Government, including their international travel);

Ř      Developed and maintained the HSK web site to serve the communities; designed and implemented online registration for a better service (http://www.kennesaw.edu/hsk).

Ř      Provided information and published over 30 news articles for the community in Atlanta local Chinese newspapers;

 

Served as associate director of Sino-American Education Consortium:

Ř      Revised and updated the by-law of the consortium;

Ř      Initialized the Web site of the consortium (Chinese version);

Ř      Co-organized 4 international conferences;

Ř      Made connections and enhanced the linkage between universities and colleges in China and in the United States;

Ř      Supervised and mentored 4 international visiting scholars at Kennesaw State University; 

 

Served as a board director of ACPSS (Association of Chinese Professors in Social Science, an international association):

Ř      Initialized and maintained the ACPSS web site to provide service to the members and the public (http://www.kennesaw.edu/acpss);

Ř      Chaired and organized 2000 ACPSS international conference at Kennesaw State University;

Ř      Co-organized ACPSS international conference in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003; served as conference program director in 2002;

Ř      Chaired and co-chaired summer lecture teams to China in 2000, 2002, and 2005, enhancing the cooperation among Chinese scholars and the scholars in the United States;

Ř      Served on the Editorial Board of Journal of ACPSS “American Review of China Studies” since 2000;

 

Served as Vice president of SICET (Society of International Chinese in Educational Technology, an international association):

Ř      Drafted the by-law of the Society, formed the association and directors of the board and registered the association in Georgia;

Ř      Co-organized 2005 international conference;

Ř      Chaired and organized 2005 Summer lecture team to China, making connections and initialing the collaboration among scholars in educational technology;

Ř      Initialized the online journal of SICET “International Journal of Technology in Teaching and Learning”  ISSN 1551-2576. (http://ijttl.sicet.org/)
